Senior Business Development Manager
Rain is the fastest-growing earned wage access (EWA) fintech in the U.S., serving 3.5 million employees and backed by top investors like QED and Prosus. We’ve raised nearly $400M in funding—including the largest Series A in fintech history—and just closed our Series B to fuel our next stage of hypergrowth.
Overview
Rain is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead and scale our Business Development Representative (BDR) team—the outbound engine responsible for generating qualified pipelines across the Mid-Market and Enterprise segments. This role is both strategic and hands-on, and will report directly to our EVP of Go-To-Market.
You will own the performance, development, and expansion of a high-performing, remote BDR team, currently eight strong. This role is pivotal to Rain’s continued growth, requiring a proven leader with a track record of driving pipeline creation in under-branded or emerging product categories (e.g., fintech, HR tech, or AI-powered SaaS).
You’ll be responsible for architecting scalable outbound programs, leveraging data and tooling (including AI), and working cross-functionally to drive alignment and performance across the full go-to-market motion.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of 8 remote BDRs focused on Mid-Market and Enterprise accounts.
- Foster a culture grounded in performance, continuous feedback, and individual growth.
- Design and implement scalable career paths and development frameworks to drive motivation and retention.
- Recruit, onboard, and ramp new hires with speed and structure.
Execution & Program Optimization
- Develop and scale effective outbound programs, cadences, and messaging strategies tailored to enterprise and mid-market buyers.
- Deliver tactical coaching on cold outreach, objection handling, and personalization.
- Drive adoption and impact of AI-powered sales workflows and modern outbound tools (e.g., Clay, Gong, HubSpot).
- Personally lead strategic outbound initiatives or high-value account engagement as needed.
Performance & Analytics
- Define and enforce clear KPIs for activity levels, conversion rates, meetings booked, and pipeline generated.
- Apply a data-first approach to optimizing team performance, forecasting results, and identifying conversion bottlenecks.
- Provide regular updates to GTM leadership with actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work hand-in-hand with Marketing to amplify integrated campaigns and build outbound programs rooted in buyer intent signals and marketing touchpoints (e.g., content downloads, webinar attendance, intent data).
- Partner closely with AEs to ensure alignment on ICP, qualification, and opportunity handoff.
- Collaborate with RevOps, Enablement, and Partnerships to co-develop outbound campaigns, training resources, and experiments.
- Act as a market intelligence source, surfacing trends, prospect feedback, and GTM opportunities from the frontlines.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of sales leadership experience, including 3+ years managing a BDR/SDR or inside sales team in B2B SaaS or fintech.
- Demonstrated success in driving outbound pipeline in emerging or under-branded categories, ideally with complex sales cycles.
- Proven ability to scale outbound programs and refine messaging/playbooks that convert.
- Command of sales metrics, pipeline forecasting, and funnel analytics.
- Hands-on experience with sales tech stacks including CRMs, sequencing tools, and AI-based automation platforms.
- A coaching mindset and passion for growing individuals into high-performing contributors.
- Thrives in a startup environment—scrappy, fast-paced, and iterative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally to align messaging, campaigns, and handoff processes.
- Industry experience in HR tech, earned wage access, or other financial wellness platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
